"Alone we can do so little,
but together we can do so much."
At EMI our work is a team effort. Together with our our fearless Field Workers and our generous Donors, we have been able to provide churches across the nations where people can experience
God's love and acceptance.
Janet Robertson is a graduate of the Glasgow Bible College, Scotland, U.K. After graduation she worked 8 years with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Holland, India and Nepal. After coming to the United States, Janet pursued a degree in International Business and later founded Encounter Missions International.
After graduating from the EMI Bible School, Becky left California to plant a church in Melbourne, Australia. With her skills as a Project Manager and her can-do attitude, Becky soon had a small Bible Study formed. Within a few short years, Becky was able to start the Melbourne Inclusive Church.
After graduating from Emerson College in Boston, USA, and later the Taiwan Theological School and Seminary, Joseph returned home to Taiwan with a burden for LGBT people and their straight friends and family members to know God. Joseph, being a long-time friend of Janet Robertson, partnered with EMI to open True Light Gospel Church in the city of Taipei. True Light is now a spiritual home form many families, and a strong advocate for marriage and gender equality in Taiwan.
When Liliana came out as a lesbian Christian, she felt like a spiritual orphan. No church in Mexico would accept her. However, God began to open up doors for training and ministry. When Liliana saw that there was a deep spiritual void in the LGBT community, she knew that a church was the answer. So Liliana reached out to EMI and together Misión Cristiana Incluyente was birthed in Mexico City.
Denise Lord & Diane Naegele
EMI's First Church Planters
Denise Lord and her partner Diane Naegele are EMI's first church planters. Leaving their family and friends behind in California, they went to Taiwan where they served for 14 years. In that time they introduced people to Christ, planted churches and raised up local leaders. Denise and Diane were also pastors of our first Taiwanese church- Church Alive- before handing it over to their prodigy, Pastor Julia Lee.
Julia Lee came to know Jesus Christ through our church planters, Denise and Diane. After pursuing a career in business, Julia felt God's call to Christian ministry. She graduated from the EMI Online Bible School and later came to the EMI headquarters in California for Pastoral training. Julia then returned to Taiwan to pastor Church Alive. Julia's passion for people has made her one of the most endearing pastors in Taiwan.
The Jefferson Family
Church Planting Assistants
As an Executive with HP, Lorri Jefferson was given the opportunity to study HP software in Taiwan. So, Lorri readily agreed and the company moved her and her wife Miko to Taiwan. The timing could not have been better as EMI was just beginning to launch True Light Gospel Church. So Lorri and Miko spent two years in Taipei City working during the day and assisting Pastor Joseph in their free time. While in Taiwan, Miko gave birth to their son Zackery, EMI's youngest missionary.
